ok the airstream is gutted out, the clear coat is moved and I've begun to polish the exterior. Once I finish polishing the exterior I will remove the sub-floor and start the shell off.
The demo was pretty easy. The skins came off with little effort. There is a good video on our YT channel showing that process here. The clear coat removal definitely took more effort than I had planned for but in the end it looks good. Some areas took three or four passes to get the clear coat off. So great job Airstream in 50+ year old clear coat lasting that long. The polishing is a LOT of labor for sure but it is looking pretty good. I chose to use the NuShine F9 C and then S polishing process in three stages which I expect to take a few weeks (about a week longer than I had planned). Part of that is my schedule is busy at work but part of it is because it is just taking a long time! Plan for that extra time for sure.
